Are you curious about the difference between a step ladder and step stool?

If this is not the most thought provoking question you have been asked all day, well then your job is probably more intellectually stimulating than ours. We thought a small step ladder was a stool and that large step ladders were just step ladders.

Step Stools

Stools are a common hardware tool of height-deficient people. They have wider steps than step stools giving the user more balance. They also generally can't be folded. 

Features

Generaly 1-2 steps

Light-weight

Made from a variety of materials such as wood, plastic, aluminum, and steel

Step Ladders

Step ladders are perfect for the weekend warriors who think home improvement is "fun." They have smaller width steps as they generally need to be folded up for storage.  

Features

Generally 3-6 steps but can have upwards of 20

Weight is dependent on the material

Generally made from aluminum or fiberglass
